Firefly excerpt and giveaway!:)
“The darkest days are ahead of us,” Andrew whispered as the drape of shadows slipped away, allowing Blair to awaken. And in her heart of hearts she knew it was true. The unmistakable signs were all around her, growing within her. She was becoming something more than human. All she could do was accept the inevitable.
“I’ve become a freak … an alien. I no longer belong to the human world,” Blair told her true love, and he held her close, determined never to give her up.
“I’d stay in this darkness forever as long as I could be with you. Wherever you are … that’s my home.” Everett meant every word. In fact, he’d willingly give up his own life to protect the girl he’d always loved.
But there was a storm brewing … a firestorm so strong and catastrophic that it could keep them apart forever.
That storm roared into town wearing a brown leather bomber jacket and riding a motorcycle.
Ash was like a secret in human clothing … a dangerous secret. Everything about him was mesmerizing – right down to the swirls of ink that flowed over the smooth muscles across his chest and around his arms. Being with him was like playing with fire.
Blair knew all about playing with fire.
She knew something else, too. A small quiet voice deep within whispered that she really would be separated from everyone and everything she’d known and loved.
Because some secrets run too deep.
As you probably know, Firefly is out! To all of you here is a little sneak peek and giveaway.
“I’ve gotta give myself up to him, y’all,” I buried my face in my hands. “It’s the only way to make sure y’all are safe.”
“The hell it is!” David blurted out. “You think for one minute that after all these years of us growing up together and looking out for one another that any one of us would just let you walk into the arms of that thing?”
I was startled to my senses, and everyone else was just plain shocked. We stared at him for a moment, and then he continued.
“Seriously, Blair! Didn’t I tell you that you’re like my own little sister? Think about what you are saying and how that would affect your mother and Andrew. And what about Everett? Do you think that nerd will ever find another girl like you?” He motioned toward Everett, and his face displayed that ‘well, do you?’ expression that I’d seen cross his face before.
I opened my mouth to say something … I had no idea what, because David was clearly on a roll. But I didn’t get the chance.
“Andrew,” David turned to speak to him. “We’ve been on bear hunting trips with our dads in the past; we came up against some pretty scary shit. But we didn’t back down. Why the hell should we now? Seriously, people!”
David shoved away from the table and walked around the room, anger and frustration rolling off him. I’d never seen him in such a state, and from the look on Natalie’s face, neither had she. He looked even bigger and broader when he was angry, and I realized he must have been a terrifying opponent when he was on the football field.
Then he turned around and pointed at Everett. “I’m gonna help this nerd keep his hot girlfriend. I’m gonna help my friend keep his sister, and then we’ll put an end to this shit once and for all!” Then he reached into the glass display cabinet, grabbed a slice of pumpkin pie with his bare hand, and shoved it in his mouth.
“I’m a nerd?” Everett asked, breaking the tension and cooling down David’s rage until he nearly choked on the pie from laughing.
“Yeah, bro,” Andrew slapped Everett on the shoulder. “I’ve been meaning to break it to you, but David beat me to the punch.”
“Huh,” Everett said, then winked at me and smiled. “Imagine that.”
“I love nerds,” I said and crawled back into his lap. “Save a horse, ride a nerd. That’s my motto!”
“Y’all are crazy,” Natalie giggled at all of us, her bright blue eyes sparkling.
“That was TMI, Sis,” Andrew shook his head.
And that's it! Liked it?
